The Curse of the Long Post

While scrolling through my unpublished content here, there seems to be quite the list of partially completed posts just waiting to be finished and shared with the world.  Apparently I’m either a) long winded, b) meticulous, c) easily distracted, or d) squirrel.  No, wait, d) all of the above.

Double shadows on the way into work

It feels like I should worry when I start casting two shadows.

With that in mind, I’m going to try something new and see whether it’s more useful or not.  Rather than waiting to write one epic recap of something–say, the entire extent of Hurricane Lane, from eye penetrations on the NOAA P-3 to speaking at the final press conference ahead of the Governor and Mayor, which was the last post I started to write before this–I’ll break things into more manageable chunks.  (Hopefully more manageable than that last sentence.)  Hopefully that also means I’ll manage to finish and post them as well.

Unfortunately, even with that teaser about Lane, I won’t be going back to that one right away.  I think a better first attempt for this new methodology would be something more timely.  In the meantime (meaning, until I write that mystery post tomorrow), I’ll leave you with the photo at right.  I’m not entirely sure where the extra light was reflecting from, but this is what greeted me on the way into work last Thursday.

Not pictured:  moments later when the shadows turn, face each other, and start fighting.

(Apparently I can’t seem to remember if this is a fiction or non-fiction blog.  Or maybe I don’t know the difference anymore.  Occupational hazard, some might say.)
